Our "Staycation"

Just think next week at this time we will have butterflies in our tummies as we prepare for the first day of school.

This past Friday we decided to take a little "staycation". At 10am we set out for Tybee Island.

Our first stop was Fort Pulaski. We just love checking out Civil War forts and battlefields.

It is really amazing how men were able to build forts such as this one. After 100 years there are no cracks in the bricks from settling. Amazing.

Our next destination was the light house. 178 steps to the top!

Three days later , my legs are still shaking. Marc and the kids went up the first 50 steps and called it quits. But don't fear, I made the climb to the top to snap a picture.
What a view.

Our next stop was the beach.

What could make this day even better? Seafood at the Crab Shack and strawberry daiquiris!
CHEERS!!!!

Yep, this was the Summer of the 'staycation' around here too. Honestly this has been the best Summer I can remember... maybe there's something to staying close to home and not having trip stress. School starts this Thurs. for us.. yikes!!
